Client Project Presentation Wide-Format Book

Complete design package for a proposed corporate building in China, the architect involved in designing the building was inspired by a cobra for the shape and look of the building. I decided to give it a cold, modern look.

Our client BRAY, has a diamond in its logotype, which I integrated and created a more cleaner updated version by combined placing the diamond part of the logo over snakeskin like building imagery.

This project was for a business center in China.

I like to show this as it shows how I can design for a completely different project from say the above educational, children’s themed design. The architect I worked with was inspired by a cobra for his building design. I decided to give it a cold, modern, business oriented look. The book end designs, the cover, which is the first page in the PDF has a slightly warm, yet brooding quality. I designed the book and logo with hidden suggestive element: The logo design and implementation of its graphic elements, the diamond cobra-like design are replicated throughout the book, the subtly dizzying angles of the book mirror or suggest the cobra theme of the building, I graphically suggested cobra scales in my compositions.

The overall book design was secretly inspired by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, I wanted that sort of to give the book a depth in terms of visual underscore meaning and brand the building to look unique, competitive and tech futuristic. The typography is also clean and I used, angularity in the blocks of type, to replicate the swiftness of a cobra. I know, a bit far too much, but that’s how I develop a strong look and feel for a project sometimes, especially something as boring as a business building.

The small header 3D buildings were early drafts that were going to be thrown away, I immediately saw the design of the book inspired by them. I also used sparingly, very raw architectural draft designs as graphic elements. I designed the logo studies in about a day.
In effect creating a Cobra “Diamond Back” visual suggestion throughout the book layout which also was inspired by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon to some extent with the suggestion of Pyramids, triangles and so on.
